About the Provider
The Desert Care Network continues to enhance specialty healthcare access to the Coachella Valley by growing our network of the best doctors, such as Dr. John Legge. Dr. Legge joins our network, so that we may ensure patient needs are met with the highest level of Neurological healthcare. He is a board-certified Neurologist with a fellowship in Movement Disorders, which he completed at UC San Diego. Dr. Legge served as Chief Resident at VCU in Richmond Virginia and was a graduate of the Palatucci Leadership Forum, which is a physicians’ grassroots advocacy and media training program hosted by the American Academy of Neurology.
Becoming a physician was not always the career path Dr. Legge imagined himself following. That changed when he became a medical assistant for a geriatrician in Memphis and soon realized he had a passion for patient care. Dr. Legge says “for me it was a chance to be very pragmatic about medicine and really make a difference.” He learned early on in his training that communication is of upmost importance and developing interpersonal relationships is essential to good patient care.
As he has advanced in his medical training, he has appreciated teaching as it provides him an opportunity to interact with medical students and share his passion for Neurology. He has excelled in teaching so much so, that in spring of 2019, Dr. Legge received an award for Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, which is an organization dedicated to prioritizing human interests, values and dignity in medical practice and teaching.
In his free time, Dr. Legge enjoys traveling with his family, visiting wineries and breweries, trying new restaurants and attempting his hand at amateur astronomy. He is an avid dog-lover and is technologically savvy as he enjoys tinkering around with computers and playing video games. He is passionate about providing quality and comprehensive care for the community of movement disorders patients.
