Medical Oncology is a physicians’s practice where they diagnose and treat the entire spectrum of cancerous diseases. Medical oncologists specialize mainly in medicinal treatments, like chemotherapy, analgesics and hormones (medicines to reduce pain) for the management of cancer. They also monitor and take care of the patient through the course of the disease. Medical oncologists work with the patient to improve the quality of life through healing therapy and in the management of pain and symptoms. They are often responsible for coordinating the team effort of various specialists involved in patient care, which may include Radiation and Surgical Oncology.
